Vane Demister Pad - Metal or Plastic Materials

Vane demister pad, also called vane mist eliminator, chevron demister pad, it consist of several zig-zag chevron blades with certain spacing. The blade profile can be smooth or with hooks. The smooth blade is commonly used for non fouling services and the hook blade can supply greater removal efficiency and capacity.

In the same environments, where the small solid particles presents, vane demister pads are the better choice for liquid and gas separator than the wire mesh demister pads.

In the working principle, the vane demister pads are different from the wire mesh demister pads. Liquid drainage in the vane demister pad occurs outside the gas flow.

Vane mist eliminator is widely used to separate entrained liquid droplets from gas stream, which the liquid droplets are 8 μm or larger. When the gas stream passes through the vane demister pad and change direction, the liquid droplets are unable to change direction as quick as the gas due to their momentum. So the liquid droplets impact on the chevron blade and then coalesce and form large droplets until drain away.

Classification of vane demister pad

According to material. Vane demister pad can be divided into metal vane demister pad and plastic vane demister pad. Vane demister pad can be made of stainless steel, carbon steel and other alloy steel. It has better corrosion and rust resistance than the plastic vane demister pad. Plastic vane demister pad is lightweight but high filtering efficiency for gas and liquid separating.

The number of passes corresponding to the number of times the gas flow change direction. More the passes, better the separating efficiency.
